My name is Neeharika Pothamsetty. I'm from Orlando, Florida, and go to school at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Even though I have been in Florida all my life, I definitely plan to move to the Northeast in the coming years. I am a Health Sciences major with concentrations in Biological Sciences and Information Technology. Post-graduation, I plan to work for a year or two then obtain an M.S. in Marketing and eventually an MBA.
I love to travel. My family and I travel almost every year– we have actually been to all seven continents. My favorite destination was definitely Antarctica. Experiencing and learning about different cultures and ways of life are very important to me. I want to continue to travel throughout the rest of my life. When I can’t travel, I like to spend my time outdoors. I have played tennis since I was young, and I recently started teaching myself how to rollerblade. Hiking is definitely my favorite outdoor hobby, but because of Florida’s unfortunate flatness, I don’t get to do it very often. I also like to run; I ran my first half marathon two summers ago.
I value all of the work experience I have had– they played a big part in shaping who I am today. My first job was in my last two years of high school when I worked as a sales associate at American Eagle Outfitters. After, I did not work until my sophomore year of college when I was a teaching assistant for Introduction to Statistics. The following jobs I held related more to the field I want to work in. In my junior year, I worked as a marketing assistant for Orlando Gastroenterology, a private practice. In the summer before my senior year, I was a digital marketing intern for Valtix, a tech startup.
I use social media often (embarrassingly often). My most used platforms are Twitter and TikTok. I like TikTok because it provides a wide variety of content specific to my interests. I could learn about politics, cooking, fitness, fashion, animals, investing, cars, and cleaning and have a good laugh all within one sitting. My favorite platform, however, is Twitter. Though I feel like it is slowly dying out, I feel as if Twitter provides the most authentic content. It has a good combination of people sharing their experiences related to social issues, provides new ways of thinking, and a lot of humor.
This is my first time creating a blog. I have always wanted to create one, and I’m very happy that school is giving me the push I needed to actually start one. I don’t follow any blogs or use them often, but some that I have used have provided good recipes for cooking. The one issue that could come with blogs is that you don’t know how factually correct some information could be. Overall, however, I like the idea of blogs because typically someone would only make one if they feel as if they have some expertise to share with the world, and blogs enable them to do so.
Wow! Antarctica! That's impressive. I suspect I will never go there but who knows? I really suggest you try spending a little time in the Northeast in January and again in late March or early April before you decide to move there. I grew up in Northeastern Ohio. It has similar weather to New England. January is cold and it may be snowy which is pretty but more often than not it is just cold and dark with no snow. March and April are grey, rainy, and muddy. I find March difficult. I love visiting places that get real seasons but I don't miss March!
